about

Since Vinyl Junkie and Rachael EC launched their 'Ghetto Dub' imprint 5 years ago they have racked up an incredible 37 releases, held numerous road block events in their native Bristol and have worked alongside a plethora of amazing artists, garnering support from many across the international D&B and Jungle scene.

Flashforward to 2020 and as the label draws ever closer to the landmark 40th release, it felt essential that underground dance veteran & label head honcho Vinyl Junkie finally stepped up with his debut full Drum & Bass E.P 'Tiger Style'

Don't get it twisted, Vinyl's history in the game stretches way back to 1991, main stage performances at the legendary Tribal Gathering, Fantazia, Raindance and countless other residencies with the biggest brands in the rave scene give him the right to claim the status 'Original Junglist', having been involved in helping & witnessing the sound evolve first hand.

'Tiger Style' is in some ways a metaphor for the 'Ghetto Dub' label with its different stripes and styles, all aggressive and all with volatile components ready to shred up your dancefloor (If you let them out their cage). The E.P kicks of with the title track & picks up where Vinyl Junkie last left us on his Serial Killaz release 'Def Shit', punishing the listener with a powerful roaring bassline and Wu-tang Esque kung fu samples that leave the listener audibly slapped up and bruised. 'Let Off' is a straight-up bubbler which fizzes and pops beautifully over Vinyl's expert percussion whilst 'Wassup Now' takes us in a different direction altogether, one that attempts to completely melt our faces off with superb bassline reminiscent of classic Urban Takeover releases. Finally 'Barefoot Junglist' takes us straight into the heart of the Tigers habitat with tribal drums and an epic Busta Rhymes sample that closes of the E.P in fine style as we dutifully 'simmer down'

This is a monumental E.P for Vinyl Junkie, one that he has poured his heart and soul into and feels like a real coming of age and a massive level up in production values. Watch out for much more from Vinyl Junkie and the Ghetto Dub crew as they prepare to unleash a huge remix album with a crazy list of collaborators, the Tiger is now uncaged, free to roam with an insatiable hunger that cannot be tamed!
