New EP series from Ghetto Dub HQ. Rugged Riddimz Vol 1 kicks off with SOUND SHIFTER’s erie darkside roller “Project Q” which echos the sound of jungles history with its heavily chopped up amen breaks and samples from the past. RASSTERLIN, head honcho behind the mighty Asbo imprint comes in hard and takes you on a journey that swings and sways through dark atmospherics, reggae skanks and a vocal that oozes dancehall lava. Definitely one for the “heads”. Next comes the unmistakable sounds of SUBCRIMINAL, fresh from his recent “Raised In The Hood” EP delivering a real bouncing dancefloor smasher with a cheeky steppa style beat and some cool reggae vocals reminiscent of the Clashes “Armageddon Time”. It's simply impossible not to jump around when the bassline drops. GALVATRON’s “Bam Bada” finally sees the light of day after a year of slaying down the dance on dub. Utilising his trademark heavily chopped up amen breaks and a dark rumbling reese bass, combined with that mesmerising female vocal, this tune goes off and is immense fun to mix with! A classic (and slightly cheeky) jungle sample ignites the proceeding on this final track by the man they call DUBTIME. We all know that intro, but when the drop comes it is not quite what you were expecting but you love it anyway. Deep rushy vibes with all the right ingredients to make this a real “Heads down” roller of a tune.
