about

Sound Shifter’s Junglistic journey began in 1993 when he heard a friends show on (pirate) radio and instantly fell in love with the vibe. This inevitably lead to him getting on the production wagon. Being such a perfectionist, It took him a while to get to a point where he was confident enough to release some music in 2012 and since then he has been steadily progressing and drastically improving. He made his debut on Ghetto Dub last year with the Nothing Changed EP and also contributed a killer track (What I Had) to the Ghetto Dubz Vol 1 compilation earlier this year. His style is predominantly of the tear-out amen Jungle ilk but, he can go anywhere from the deeper realms of Intelligent Jungle, all the way to the moody dark shadows of rolling Drum & Bass, there really are no limits to his influences. Now, as 2017 draws to a close we are proud to give you a bunch of remixes of his previous Ghetto Dub works, 2 VIP’s by the man himself and 2 remixes from Ghetto Dub artists.

First up, What I Had - A re-working of his album track which, to be honest, we did not think he could better, but you know what? He has totally done it. A cool atmospheric intro with its house style synth riff leads us un-expectantly into this tearing jungle roller. Big futuristic bass entangled with his signature chopped up amen delivers an intense workout that will rattle your ribcage. Next up, Break it Down - Label head-honcho Vinyl Junkie has teamed up with Subcriminal to create a new twist on this rumbling roller. The eerie intro captures the imagination with a guitar riff that is reminiscent of an old spaghetti western movie. With classic sounding sub bass rolling throughout, this re-work represents the original with true junglist stylee. Onto track 3, Feel - The original track was full of oldskool flavours and Sanxion has kept that vibe going, in the intro al least. Starting with a summery synth lick that lulls the listener into a false sense of security before the bass drops, and then its a different matter altogether - a dark and dirty skank out which has all the qualities of the steppa style. Then, saving the best for last, Sound Shifter’s has really gone next level on his VIP mix of Dis Jungle - The original track was heavily supported by some BIG players in the Jungle scene and this remix is already receiving even more attention. All you original jungle vibe enthusiasts hold tight for this one. It really is dance floor smasher!
