Not much is known about Kazan. Some say he is a Russian Spy, other say he is a Shaolin Monk… Maybe he is both?! What we do know is that he is ridiculously talented in the art of manipulating sound waves to the point where they actually mess with your psyche… Or maybe that’s just me?

These six chunks of bass driven breakbeat heaviness magically appeared on Ghetto Dub’s doorstep wrapped in a blanket with a note that simply said. “Release Me”. So without further ado, Ladies and gentlemen, we give you… KAZAN and the DREAM CHASER EP.

Kicking off with DOWN LOW. A powerful breakbeat workout, weighing in at 130 Bpm with its sinister pads, screeching 303 riffs and just a little hint of jungle sprinkled onto the drums. Title track DREAM CHASER takes things up a notch to the obligatory 140 mark, with its dark undertones and jungle drums reminiscent of the early nineties. Definitely a tune that tells a story! Sticking at 140… SHOCKWAVE breaks it down to a mesmerising dub adventure with broken beats, haunting female vocals. GOING DOWN is a mystical stepper and bit of a roller with an infectious groove and a bassline that you cant help but move to. DARK STAR, an Oldskool flavoured slice of amen goodness, takes us up the tempo spectrum even more and into the realms of the junglist, ready for PREMONITIONS, which is a real heads down groover with a twisted brass sound that really gets inside your head and a bassline that surely gives a nod to Photek.
