about

Sound shifter is fast becoming a name to be reckoned with on the Jungle / D&B scene and has dabbled with all aspects of it regardless of tempo or sub-genre. His junglistic journey began in 1993 when he was just a boy having heard these infectious beats and basslines emanating from a friends (pirate) radio. He took up DJing at the age of 14 and a year later obtained his first PC and a copy of Cubase. He spent many years perfecting his craft before unleashing it upon the world and in 2012 his first official release landed on Digital Acetate, a 150 BPM track called “In Love With You”. Since then he has released on Hazardous Music, Deep In The Jungle and Yardrock RIQ, to name just a few. His sound and production values are improving like a fine wine showing that things do actually change, in contradiction to what the name of this EP would suggest.

Now as 2015 draws to a close Sound Shifter’s latest offering, having been snapped up by Vinyl Junkie & Rachael E.C for their Ghetto Dub imprint, prepares to hit the street… The “Nothing Changes” EP. A 4-tracker that ventures a bit more into the realms of Drum & Bass whilst keeping a firm hold on his jungle roots, kicks off with a track called “Feel”, which shows his appreciation of the oldskool world with stabby riffs and a deep rumbling reece. “Dis Jungle” is an epic rolling jungle workout that takes us on a journey, twisting and turning through floating pads, obligatory amen chops and “Badman” vocal snips. “Break It Down” takes it up a notch with a hint of Jump-Up flavor thrown into the cauldron and then the title track “Nothing Changes” is the grand finale to what can only be called a groundbreaking EP.
